Henry LeConte “Hal” Morris Jr., age 89,
lifetime resident of Ovid, died peacefully at his home on County
Road 131 on Monday (Jan 23rd).
A Memorial Service to commemorate Hal’s life will be held at 11:00am
on Saturday (Jan 28) at the Ovid Federated Church, officiated by
Rev. Diane Walker. A reception will follow the service at the
church, friends are invited to stay and share memories with the
family. A private committal will be held at the West Lodi Cemetery.

Hal was born in Ovid on April 23, 1922, the only
son of the late Henry L. and Katherine (Porter) Morris, Sr. He
graduated from Ovid Central School in 1940, and proudly served his
country during WWII from 1942-1945. Hal graduated from Cornell
University in 1950 with his bachelor’s degree, and again served in
the US Air Force from 1950 to 1951. For more than 20 years, Hal
worked as the business manager for South Seneca Central School
District, and as tax collector until 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Morris, his daughters, Denise
Morris of Ovid, and Cynthia (Paul) Zimbrich of Rochester, and his
grand daughters, Alayna, Hanna, and Dannielle Zimbrich. Hal was
preceded in death by his sister, Katharine. |
