Ella Mae Wilson Yonge, age 90,
formerly of Potter Road, died at the home of her daughter in law in
Odessa, on Friday (Dec 23).
Ella Mae was born on September 8, 1921 at the family homestead in
the Town of Covert, a daughter of the late Byron B. and Jennie
(Davis) Holford. She was a devoted homemaker and was referred to as
“Ovid’s Cleaning Lady” assisting the Allen, Franklin and Covert
families, among others. She took in laundry and prepared meals in
addition to her housekeeping. She was a lifetime resident of the
area, and had been a member of the Interlaken Reformed Church. She
was proud of the special Palm Sunday in which she and all of her
children were baptized.

She is survived by her son, Leonard (Barb) Wilson
of Interlaken; a daughter, Shirley (Jack) Hasselaar of Beverly, West
Virginia, her daughter in law, Genevieve Wilson of Odessa and
numerous grand and great grandchildren. Ella Mae was preceded in
death by her husbands, Alfred Wilson in 1945 and by Ralph Yonge in
1982, and by her sons, John in 1956, Buddy in 2006, Elmer in 2010
and by her siblings, Grace, Floyd and Byron.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am to Noon on Tuesday,
December 27, 2011 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street,
Ovid. A funeral service will then be held at the funeral home at
Noon on Tuesday, led by Mark Beardsley. Prayers of committal will be
held at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken. Kindly consider a donation
