Everett “Chuck” Babcock,Sr. age 76, of 2162 Grove Street, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, as the result of a spinal injury he sustained at home in December. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 1:00 to 5:00pm at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. Chuck was born on August 30, 1937, a son of the late Wallace and Edna Babcock of Colchester, New York.  He was part of a large family, having 5 brothers and 4 sisters.  He proudly served in the USArmy from 1953-1957, and upon returning home, he worked as a farmer throughout upstate New York.  He, along with his young family, then made his home in Seneca County, and worked at B&G Great Lakes in Seneca Castle for more than 30 years. After retiring in 2005, Chuck worked at South Seneca Central School as an afternoon custodian.  He was an avid bowler for more than 40 years, competing in many leagues throughout the area.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Josetta Babcock of Lodi, their seven children; Sally (Lenny Church) Spencer of Willard, Everett (Tina) Babcock Jr. of Ovid, Cheryl Babcock of Willard, Ann (Frank) Pinette of Trumansburg, Clara (Bruce) Walborn of Lodi, Dawn (Rich) Smith of Interlaken, and Roy (Michelle) Babcock of Romulus, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; his brothers, Wallace (Carolyn) Babcock of Crescent City, FL, Leo “Skip” (Candace) Babcock of Auburndale,FL, Garry (Connie) Babcock of Bainbridge, NY and sisters, Clara (Herman) Diagostino of Wells, MS, Mary (Ernie) Franklin of Mt. Upton, NY and Lucille Shertenskas of Fayetteville, NC.  Chuck was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom Babcock of Binghamton, NY, Butch Babcock of Phelps, NY and a sister Sharron Church of Oneonta.
