Ismael Vasquez, age 71, of 1062 Route 336, died on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Geneva General Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 on Wednesday, February 5th, at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street in Ovid, a funeral service will then follow at the funeral home at 2:00pm, officiated by Rev. John Kotun.  Prayers of committal will be held at Ovid Union Cemetery in the Spring.

Ismael was born in Puerto Rico on December 27, 1942, the second oldest of 12 children to Jose and Patricia Vasquez and came to the United States at the age of 9.  He made his home with the family of Bob and Marge Copp in 2001, where he thrived in the family environment and was surrounded by love and compassion.  He was able to enjoy family outings, and most importantly his beloved hobby, fishing.   

Prior to finding his home with the Copp’s, he had been in various mental health facilities from New York City to Willard.

He is survived by his loving caregivers, Bob and Marge Copp, his “Grandma” Grace Saito and his fellow housemates.
