James E. “Jim” MacCheyne, age 80, of 3221 County Road 129,  passed away at the Hildebrandt Hospice Center in Greece on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 with his family at his side.
 
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. Prayers of committal will be held privately at West Lodi Cemetery.  A reception for family and friends will then be held at the Lodi Fire Department at 2:00pm on Sunday.   In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to Lifetime Care Hospice, 800 W Miller St, Newark, NY 14513.
 
Jim was born in Lodi on August 19, 1935, a son of the late George and Edith (Clark) MacCheyne.  He joined the workforce at a young age and his strong work ethic continued thoughout his lifetime.  He worked as an equipment operator for NYS DOT for more than 30 years, operated Jim’s Trucking, and co-owned Jim & Georgia’s Diner with his wife for 36 years. He was married to Georgia Smith Horrocks on November 8, 1974 and together they raised a blended family of eight children.  For many years, Jim enjoyed coaching Little League and playing on the diner’s softball team. He had also been a former member of the Lodi Fire Department.
 
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Georgia; their children, Regina Blanke of Geneva, Robert (Tina) MacCheyne of Trumansburg, Jeffrey (Karen) MacCheyne of Covert, Angel (Larry) Lawrence of Willard, Lynne Hall of Interlaken, Cathy (Steve) Kerns of Interlaken, and John Horrocks of Hector; 20 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; his siblings, Ginny (Tom) Olschewske of Romulus, Dick MacCheyne, George (Eileen) MacCheyne all of Lodi; and many nieces and nephews.  Jim was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy, and his siblings, Hazel MacCheyne, Betty Morse, Marian Kendall, Donny and Pete MacCheyne.
