Mabel E. Cunningham, age 94, formerly of Lodi, NY passed away December
21, 2016 at Absolute Care of Three Rivers in Painted Post, NY.
Mabel was born January 18, 1922 in Hayes, Louisiana. She was the
daughter of Mary and Claude Trahan. She married Howard Cunningham on October
10, 1942 in Louisiana and was preceded in death by him in 1999.
Mabel graduated from Bell City High School in 1940. She was employed at
Willard State Hospital until retiring in 1984.
In her spare time, Mabel was active in bowling, playing euchre, crafts, sewing
and socializing with her friends. She was a proud New York Yankees fan. She
loved her beautiful flowers and was very proud of her vegetable garden.
She belonged to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ovid, NY, VFW Ladies Auxiliary,
Ovid Senior Citizens, Lodi Historical Society and the Hector Euchre Club.
She is survived by her daughters, MaryBeth (Donald) Yost of Painted Post, NY
and Dianne (William) Webster of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren Raelene (Randy)
Josephson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Robert (Stacey) Webster of Camden,
Delaware, Randy (Kimberly) Webster of Horseheads, NY, Ryan (Erin) Webster of
Sand Point, Idaho, Rusten Webster of Elmira, NY and Rick (Collette) Webster of
Goodyear, Arizona and 19 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by
grandson Wayne Yost of Painted Post, NY. She was also predeceased by her
parents and sisters, Margaret Flora, Nola Henry, Louella LaCombe, Mildred
Touchet, Gustavia Thibeaux and brothers, Lester Trahan and J.C. Trahan.
It was Mabel’s wishes to have no calling hours. A Mass of Christian
burial will be held at Holy Cross Church in Ovid, NY on December 27, 2016 at
11:00am. She will be laid to rest in Lodi Cemetery.
