Alice Detrick Obituary

Alice M. Detrick, age 82, longtime resident of 8496 Lower Lake Road, passed away peacefully beneath a beautiful rainbow at Seneca View in Montour Falls on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

Alice was born in Slaterville on July 17, 1940, a daughter of the late Omar and Emma (nee Thomas) Mulks. She was the high school sweetheart of the Ithaca High School class of 1957. Alice began her singing at age three, and never stopped. She was one of the most sought after performers in the region, and after paying her dues in local honky tonks and parties, she began to travel extensively with her music.  She performed on the Onondaga War Memorial stage with Bob Hope in 1966, she opened shows for Loretta Lynn, Roy Clark, Charlie Pride, The Charlie Daniels Band and went as far as Norway to perform with Lynn Anderson at the Halogaland Country Music Festival.  She spent 20 years as “FCMA Sweetheart” traveling around the country for the Family Motor Coach Assoc. conventions and was inducted into the Cortland County Music Hall of Fame. Alice was always first in line to offer her talents for any charitable event or fundraiser. Aside from always being the life of the party, Alice enjoyed painting and spending time on Seneca Lake during the warm months and in Florida during the winter.

She is survived by her longtime companion and husband, Harry Farr of Lodi, her sons; Brian Detrick of San Diego, CA and Scott Detrick of Lansing; her grandchildren, Derek, Zachary, Kaylee and Melody, her great grandchildren, Weston and Charlotte, her diversified family of: Dave (Charlene) Farr of Daytona Beach, FL, Susan (Brian) Fitzpatrick of Portland, ME, Sam (Shelly) Farr of Lodi, Scott (Joan) Smith of Interlaken,  Ron (Sherry) Smith of Romulus; her granddaughters, Samantha and Ariel Felice,  and many additional grandchildren, nieces, nephews and admiring fans. She was preceded in death by her brother, Clint Mulks and sisters, Molly Mulks and Janet Haskin, and Harry's daughter, LIsa Farr-Felice.
