David R. Moore

David R. Moore, age 77, of Romulus, NY, passed away at Strong Hospital on Monday, August 16, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ovid, NY followed by prayers of committal with military honors to be held at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to Holy Cross Catholic Church, PO Box 403, Interlaken, NY 14847.

David was born in Syracuse on June 1, 1944, the second son of James and Agnes (Roth) Moore.  David’s father died when he was very young, and his mother’s husband, Fred Zacholl graciously stepped into the role of father. Upon completion of high school he proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968.   He then began a long career at Seneca Army Depot, where he retired as the supervisor of maintenance and security. Upon retirement, he then worked at the North Street Apartments in Geneva.

He  is survived by his wife, Ellen; his children, Kathyrn (Mark) Dalton of Spring Lake, NC, Cynthia (Daryl) Fitzgerald of Newtown, CT, Kimberly (Marvin) Cole of Farmington, NY, Teresa Sproul  of Waterloo, NY, Christopher Moore of Romulus, NY and Amanda (Justin) Macksamie of Farmington, NY; 12 grandchildren, a sister, Sharon Rabe of Arizona and all of their extended families.  David was preceded in death by his fathers and mother, and by his brother, James.
