Julian Stamp Obituary

Julian A. Stamp, age 88, of Ovid passed away at Rochester General Hospital on Saturday, September 24, 2022.

The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street Ovid, from 1:00 to 3:00pm on Friday, October 7, 2022.  A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 3:00pm at the funeral home. The family asks those who would like to make a contribution in Julian’s memory to kindly consider Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, PO Box 5028, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Julian was born in Nunda, New York on October 1, 1933, a son of the late Russell and Helen (nee Coe) Stamp. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. Julian was employed at General Motors and then worked his way up to the position of Vice President at Roblin Steel in North Tonawanda and Dunkirk for many years before working with his brother as a truck driver. Later in life, Julian’s most treasured job was being an Amish driver, a position which lead to many close friendships and high regard for the Amish community.

He had a kind, caring spirit and was generous with his time to family members, friends, and neighbors. Julian loved being with family and friends and was proud to be able to say he cared for his mother at home until her death. He enjoyed caring for animals, especially horses and his beloved cats, watching the birds, mowing his lawn, and tending to his flower gardens.

He is survived by his two children, Gail Conrad and David Stamp; grandchildren, Ashley Conrad, William Conrad, Jonathan (Alexandria) Stamp, and Leah (Ryan) Smolik; and great grandchildren, Liam and Noah Stamp, and Ethan and Emma Smolik. In addition to his parents, Julian was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Amy Stamp; and his siblings, Marion Long, and Thomas, John, and Jerry Stamp.
