Richard "Dick" G. Boyes

Richard G. Boyes, age 90, of Interlaken passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, August 7, 2021.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 to 3:00pm on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Trumansburg United Methodist Church, 80 East Main Street, Trumansburg. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to Hospicare or the charity of one’s choice.

Dick was born in Interlaken on April 25, 1931, a son of the late Leonard and Doris (Sutterby) Boyes. He graduated from Interlaken High School and worked several places including a farm in Montour Falls, the Hector Grazing Lands where he served as manager, and the Town of Montour Falls and Town of Ovid. His love of horses was an aspect of every part of his life from his jobs, to owning his own draft horses, to being a member of the NYS Horse Pullers Association. Dick took meticulous care of his yard and mowed roadsides every Spring and Fall for the Town of Ovid until he was 85.

Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley A. Boyes; two children, Glenn (Michelle) Boyes and Denise (Walter “Skip”) Ector; seven grandchildren, Jason Ector, Kyle (Sheena) Ector, Sarah (Stuart) Church, Emylee (Jason) Jordan, Nathanael (Ashley) Schrader, Ashley (Aaron) Thibeault; and Erica (Mike) Murray; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Egan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends in the Amish community. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and William Boyes; and many beloved horses.
