Charlene J. Champion

Charlene J. Champion, age 63, longtime resident of the Lodi and Interlaken area, died at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo on Saturday, July 25, 2026, with loving family at her side.

Charlene was born in Waterloo on December 30, 1962, a daughter of the late Ralph and Bertha (nee Holford) Jones Sr. She had attended South Seneca High School and later earned her GED. She was married to Bob Champion, and they raised a blended family of happy children. She worked as the office manager with Bob at his welding shop while balancing time with her large family on both sides of the marriage and later helped to care for her aging parents.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Jr. of Lodi; her children, Jessica (Tom) Champion of Missouri, Josh Smith of Ovid, Cora (Jeff Warne) Champion of Lodi and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her siblings, Ralph Jones Jr. of Ovid, Darla (Louie) Hathaway of Ovid, Tom (Joyce) Jones of Interlaken, and Tim Jones of Ovid. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Keith, Marvin and Martha; sisters in law, Roma and Rhea and a grandson, Tyler Champion.

The family will host a Celebration of Life for all friends and family from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Ovid American Legion Post #463 on Friday, August 7, 2026. Burial will be held privately at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
