Emily S. Aman age 90, of Interlaken passed away at Schuyler Hospital surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 following a brief illness.
Emily was born in Candor on July 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Van Vorce) Slater. She graduated from Candor High School and married Max W. Aman in 1956. In 1961 Max and Emily moved to the Interlaken area, the two owned and operated Aman Farms and Maxam Trucking. They continued their trucking travels by delivering grumman canoes all over the United States. Aman Farms legacy still continues today with the next generation of Aman’s.
Emily had a passion for reading, puzzles, and attending all family events. She loved watching her family’s sporting events from derby’s, racing, or school athletics; even after her children and grandchildren graduated she loved attending any type of athletic events. Outside of her family, Emily loved attending Cornell Hockey games and will be remembered still today.
She is survived by her children, Todd (Diane) Aman, Michelle (Al) Varian, Christopher (Lisa) Aman, Eric (Kelly) Aman, and Bryce (Jackie) Aman; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Slater and David (Cindy Sweet) Slater; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Max in 2017; a daughter, Colette Furman in 2025; and siblings, Eugene Slater, Joyce Brainard, Florence Alpert, and Denise Dekins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Interlaken Reformed Church, 8315 North Main Street, Interlaken. Friends and family are invited to a reception following the service at the Interlaken Sportsmen's Club, 8561 Tunison Road, Interlaken. The family asks those that would like to make a contribution in Emily’s name to the Interlaken Reformed Church as she attended and found great faith and fellowship, strength and comfort.
