Howard H. Hall Jr.

Howard H. Hall Jr., a cherished educator and talented craftsman, passed away on February 19, 2025, at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, following a brief hospitalization. Born on July 31, 1937, in Rochester, New York, a son of the late Howard H. and Elma (nee Byrne) Hall Sr. Howard led a life rich with achievements and devoted service to his community.

A graduate of Dundee Central School, Class of 1956, he excelled athletically, proudly earning 13 Varsity Letters. He furthered his education at SUNY Brockport, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Education. He began his career in education in Watkins Glen, where he taught for two years before dedicating an impressive thirty years as a beloved math teacher at Trumansburg Central School. Howard's passion for teaching left an indelible mark on countless students and colleagues who were fortunate enough to benefit from his engaging instruction and thoughtful guidance. 

In addition to his remarkable career in teaching, Howard was an accomplished woodcarver, specializing in shore birds and duck decoys. His artistry resulted in hundreds of exquisite pieces, showcasing his exceptional craftsmanship. He exhibited his work at numerous art and craft shows, reflecting not only his talent but also his commitment to sharing his passion with others.

Howard was known for his endearing personality and was recognized as a great conversationalist, able to engage those around him with warmth and thoughtfulness. His presence will be profoundly missed by many who appreciated his kindness and vivacity.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years, Marjorie; his sons, Jerry Hall and Howard H. Hall III; his daughter, Karen (Daniel) Zelko all of Horseheads; his daughter, Brenda Jabro of Florida; and  grandchildren, Patrick and  Aaron Zelko, John Paul Jabro, and Charolette Farrar, He also leaves behind his brother, Ronald (Barbara) Hall of Ithaca. Howard was preceded in death by Kathleen Ann Hall, the mother of his children, who passed away in 1983.
