Inez M. Darling, affectionately known as Iney, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at her residence on February 24, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on June 12, 1933, in Standing Stone, Pennsylvania, Inez was a beloved figure in her community and a dedicated family member.
A proud graduate of Towanda High School in 1952, Inez had a vibrant spirit and a hard-working nature. She met her future husband, Clifford, while he was employed by her aunt and uncle, and together they built a life filled with love and purpose on the Lawara Farm in Interlaken, where they resided for 35 years. Their strong bond endured for over 55 years until Clifford's death in 2009.
Inez was not just a devoted wife but also a meticulous homemaker and housekeeper, always ensuring her home was a welcoming haven. Her high energy and feisty personality were evident in all aspects of her life. As an artisan baker, she delighted in sharing her creations with friends, neighbors, and the special people in her life, making her baked goods a cherished staple in her community. Inez also took joy in decorating her home for every holiday, a testament to her festive spirit and love for celebration.
In addition to her role as a mother and grandmother, Inez was a supportive member and volunteer of the Interlaken Reformed Church for decades, where she built many lasting friendships. She was known for her loyalty and was clearly viewed as a loyal friend by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Inez’s proudest accomplishments lay within her family. She dearly loved her husband, her children, and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving her are her daughter, Patricia Langley of Romulus; a son, Rick Darling of Trumansburg; a grandson, Aaron (Kaela Orego) Langley; a granddaughter, Courtney (James) Maphis; and great-grandchildren, Maverick, Alaric Richmond, and Kingston Langley, Riliegh and Arianna Maphis; and by her sister, Shirley Boyes of Trumansburg, her brother, Gary (Mary) Lewis of Horseheads, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy in 1963, her husband, Clifford in 2009, her son in law, Jim Langley in 2024 and by her sister, Erma Bishop.
Inez will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering dedication to her family, and the joy she brought to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories that will forever be held close in the hearts of her loved ones.
