ROMULUS-J. Barry Roach, age 90, longtime resident of East Lake Road, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Barry was born in South Buffalo on September 9, 1935, son of the late Joseph P. and Jewel (nee Renowden) Roach. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University; Canisius College; and S.U.N.Y. Buffalo with a PhD. in organizational development.
Barry married Julie Jewert at the Immaculate Conception Church in Rochester on April 3, 1970. Together they made their family homes in Pittsford, New York and on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake.
Barry’s career spanned many decades and organizations, including General Motors Institute, Martin Marietta Aerospace Corporation, Exxon Information Systems, Schlegel Corporation, Burroughs Corporation, and Welch Allyn, Inc. He made lifelong friends along the way.
After retiring in 1999, Barry served as the board president for Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes and as a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church parish council and chairman of its finance committee. In service to his community, Barry was chairman and member of the Town of Romulus Planning Board and actively involved in the Ovid-Willard Lions Club and Friends of The Three Bears.
Barry will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, and above all, his gentle wisdom.
Barry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julie; his children, Dr. John B. “Josh” (Kirsty) Roach Jr., Anthony D. (Michelle) Roach, David M. (Dr. Polly) Roach, and Maria E. (Michael) Wagner; his grandchildren, Joey, Matt, Audrina, Maddie, Ellie, Kai, John, and Vivian; his brothers, Daniel J. (Pat) Roach and Dr. James E. (Barb) Roach, and extended family.
