Linda P. Lucas

LODI-Linda P. Lucas, age 77, lifetime resident of 8375 North Main Street, died at Cayuga Medical Center on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from complications of a sudden cardiac event.

Linda was born in Geneva on December 19, 1947, a daughter of the late Dick and Sybil (nee Southwick) Farr. She was a proud graduate of the Ovid High School class of 1965, shortly thereafter she began a long career at Willard Psychiatric Center. Linda was the first female Fire & Safety Officer at Willard and upon its closing, she took the steps to become a corrections officer, working her way back to Willard DTC (from which she retired), only to begin working at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid for the next several years. Linda proudly lived in the historic multigenerational Farr family home, from which she operated Crystal Springs Tourists B&B, following in family footsteps. Linda was a strong supporter and volunteer for the Lodi Historical Society, in addition to being very patriotic and vocal in her political position on all topics. There aren’t enough words to express her love of animals and the countless pets she had over the decades, all of which lived a charmed life and truly wanted for nothing.

Linda formed meaningful friendships throughout her lifetime: from her childhood, working at Willard, guests and hunters at the B&B, Lodi Historical Society, hosting the neighborhood kids and families at her backyard pool and the list is truly endless as she was a woman on the go, literally every minute of the day which included countless road trips to places only she could find. Linda was a wonderful cook and host, and her door was always open to visitors in addition to many over the years that needed a place to live, long or short term. Linda had a philosophy, “you start at the bottom rung of the ladder and work your way up with me”. Should you prove yourself to be a good person, honest and possess integrity, your climb up the ladder was guaranteed, with Linda steadily holding the bottom to support you and cheering for you all the way to the top. For those of you who were fortunate enough to have her in your life, you were guaranteed her hilarious quips, “Happy Birthday” sung over the phone, memories of shenanigans and unbelievable (yet true) stories, a friend that would last in your heart forever and a knowledge of what being a good citizen was all about!

Linda will be missed by so many, far and wide, but her family will truly feel her loss in a way that only they will understand. Linda beamed with pride when she spoke of her family, updated everyone on the latest accomplishments and made every effort to see them as often as possible. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria (Brad) Mestas and their daughters, Bella and Elizabeth of Fleming Island, FL; her brother, Frank (Marsha) Farr of Taylorville, IL and their families. For everyone standing on the ladder, all of you meant so much to Linda, and her family thanks you for your friendship.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Lodi Historical Society Building at 1:00 on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 (don’t be late), followed by a reception until 4:00pm, where the family will host friends. Interment will be held privately at West Lodi Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Linda’s memory to the Lodi Historical Society.
