Linda L. Steinruck, age 74, longtime resident of East Seneca Street, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Cayuga Medical Center.
Linda was born in Muncy, PA on December 1, 1950, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary (nee Edkin) Harvey. She proudly received her GED with her son at his graduation ceremony. Linda had worked at Willard Psychiatric Center, many will remember her as the friendly face at Guiseppe’s Pizza in Ovid, and most recently as a custodian at Trumansburg Central Schools. She was a faithful member of the Ovid Federated Church, where she quietly spent many hours working in the background to make sure events and programs went off successfully.
She is survived by her partner of 49 years, Dave Thompson of Lodi and her children, Dennis Steinruck and Mary (Ed) Granger, all of Ovid; her grandchildren, Ashley Steinruck and Lee Granger and 3 great grandchildren; her sisters, Eliza “Sis” Everts of Lodi and Delsi “Mickey” Skinner of Florida. Linda took on the role of “Mom” to many of her children’s friends, as her home was always open to all of them. Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Winder and son, Kenny Steinruck.
The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid from Noon-2:00pm on Thursday, May 1, 2025, a memorial service will then follow at 2:00. Prayers of committal will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken. Kindly consider a donation to the Ovid Federated Church in Linda’s memory.
