Louis H. Brinkerhoff, 91, Wakarusa, Indiana, died Sunday afternoon, March 29, 2026, at his home. He was born June 20, 1934, in Binghamton, New York, to Harold Louis & Pauline E. (Hart) Brinkerhoff. He married Agnes M. (McCheyne) Brinkerhoff, and she died August 30, 2025, after 68 years of marriage.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, Agnes, 2 brothers, Charles Brinkerhoff & Gary Brinkerhoff and 2 sisters, Marian Sheppard & Janet Livingstone.
Louis was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at the Flea Market in Shipshewana for 20 years and prior to that he worked in RV Manufacturing.
Louie was a hard worker and a busy man until the very end. On nice days you’d surely find him scootering around town as he refused to let old age hold him back. His favorite past times included: reminiscing of the “good ole days” with his loved ones, watching Nascar, cheering on Syracuse University and tinkering in his garage. With Louie there was always a next project on the horizon. He loved puzzles and gardening and took great pride in his tomatoes. Although his passing is not easy, we take comfort in knowing he will no longer spend his days missing his beloved wife.
Agnes M. Brinkerhoff, 92, Wakarusa Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday Evening, August 30, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born August 10, 1933, in Romulus, New York, to Hugh Morton & Emily B. (Williams) McCheyne Jr. She was married to Louis H. Brinkerhoff for 68 years.
Surviving are her husband, Louis, Wakarusa, Indiana a son, Jeffrey Carl (Amy) Brinkerhoff, Goshen, 4 grandchildren, Danielle (Eric) Radde, Mishawaka, Justus (Kara) Brinkerhoff, Wakarusa, Shelby (Spencer) Swihart, New Paris, Cierra Brinkerhoff, Goshen and 4 great-grandchildren, Millie Radde, Nolan Brinkerhoff, Halle Kate & Rory Swihart.
Preceding her in death are her parents and 3 siblings, Stanley McCheyne, Emily Wilson & Jean Simmons.
Agnes worked at Dwyer Instruments for 20 years, then later worked at Dollar General for 7 years. In her younger years, she enjoyed genealogy and traveling. Agnes was a true patron of the Wakarusa Public Library. Nothing could keep her from her next murder mystery. If she wasn’t reading in her living room chair, you could find her busy in the kitchen or laundry room with an audio book playing in the background. Agnes was full of love and knowledge, and her family will never be the same without her. We take great comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her loved ones in the arms of Jesus.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Wakarusa Public Library, P.O. Box 485, Wakarusa, IN 46573, or The Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, 2515 E. Center St., Warsaw, IN 46580.
In honor of their wishes, there will be no visitation. They will be laid to rest in the West Lodi Cemetery, Lodi, New York, where private services will be held at a later date.
