Irene M. Williamson, age 71, of Conifer Village, passed away peacefully at her apartment, following an extended cancer illness.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am on Monday (April 28) at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street in Ovid. A funeral service will then follow at 11:00am, officiated by Pastor Dave Spencer of the Seneca Community Church in Romulus. Irene was born at home in Lodi on November 16, 1942, a daughter of the late Jerome and Lillian (Trim) Champion. She left school at an early age, to care for her family, due to her mother’s illness. She continued her role as caregiver by working at the former Lakeside Nursing Home in both the housekeeping and dietary departments. She worked side by side with her husband at the U-Haul Store in Ithaca, and finally retired from Dick Van Dyke Addiction Treatment Center in Willard, where she had been a housekeeper. She cared deeply for her loving family and looked forward to all of the many holidays, reunions and get-togethers.

Irene is survived by her children, Michael (Melanie) Williamson of Interlaken, Tammy (John) Solveson of Lodi and Pamela (Tim) Dunn of Elmira; grandchildren, Nathan and Kelly Williamson, Crystal and Robert Smith, Taylor and Tanner Dunn; step-grandchildren, Andrew Dunn, Billy and Cindy Mix and James Harrington; great-grandchildren, Jaylyn Ragusa and Aviannah Ayers; her siblings, Ronald Champion Sr.of Beaver Dams, Viola Coney, Connie (Kenneth) Dresser and Phyllis Champion all of Lodi. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Williamson in 1994.
