It is with a heavy heart that the family of Margaret “Peggy” Conklin, age 81 of Seneca Falls, announce that she passed away in the morning hours of June 26, 2025 after a brief illness.
Peggy grew up in Watkins Glen, New York and loved NASCAR. She worked as a bookkeeper for Jackson Hewitt, but her favorite job was working as a seamstress at the Mark Twain Musical Drama. She loved talking to the actors and listening about their life in the world of musical theatre.
She so enjoyed being with her friends and leading the bone builders group in Elmira. She found lasting friends through that group and found them equally motivating. After having a stroke in 2003, she was self-motivating and found not only support, but a renewed sense of purpose in the stroke support group at St. Joseph's Hospital. When her daughter was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, she shared "you will find people doing worse than you, and people doing better than you. You lift those you can and accept being lifted by others when you need to.”
She was a prolific and talented fiber artist, working and creating amazing pieces from yarn and fabric. She and her husband Dale enjoyed being vendors at Elmira's Eldridge Park and area holiday bazaars.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Shelley (John) Evans; grandchildren Ryan (Cora) Evans, Jordan (Kierstin) Evans, Russell (Kristi) Conklin, and Bradley Conklin; great grandchildren, Elijah, Brayden, Ashton, Amelia, Jenna and Megan; and daughter in law Victoria. She loved hearing of her family’s adventures.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Dale Conklin; siblings David Eggersdorf and Gloria Tripp; and her parents Jane Burris Snyder and Walter Eggersdorf.
In keeping with Peggy’s wishes services will be held privately.
The family asks those that would like to make a donation in Peggy’s memory to kindly consider Waterloo Public Library, 31E William Street, Waterloo NY 13165 or the Bridges for Brain Injury Wildlife Rockstar Program, 5760 Duke of Gloucester Way, Farmington NY 14425.
