Marilyn A. Maleski of Ovid passed away at Pathway Home Hospice on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the age of 87.

The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street, Ovid on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7231 Main Street, Ovid by Fr. Bernard Maloney OFMCap. Prayers of committal will be private for family at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Marilyn was born in Utica on May 13, 1936, a daughter of the late Norman and Cathryn (Carey) Jones. She graduated from Utica Free Academy and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Keuka College in 1957, an accomplishment she was quite proud of. Marilyn worked at Willard Psychiatric Center starting as an OR Nurse working up to second in charge to the Director of Nursing. She retired in 1991. She enjoyed her career at Willard and served on the Willard Reunion Committee for many years.

Marilyn married John Maleski on November 29, 1958. They were married for over 50 years. Following their retirements they enjoyed wintering in Leesburg, Florida. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, painting, and ceramics. She was also active in various ministries at Holy Cross.

She is survived by three children, Kayanne (Reinhard) Gsellmeier, Debra DiLallo, and Charles (Susan) Maleski; two granddaughters, Kristyn Maleski and Paige (Patrick) Borland; two step-grandchildren Amy (Danny) Segelin and Eric (Ingrid) Gsellmeier; great grandson, Easton; six step-great grandchildren, Link, Lucy, Elena, Evelyn, Charlotte, and Owen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.
