Patricia A. Guinan

Patricia A. Guinan, age 90, lifetime resident of Ovid, died peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025, following many months of declining health.

Pat was born in Ithaca, the only daughter of the late Paul and Clara (nee McCormick) Depew. She was a graduate of Ovid High School -Class of 1954 and was married to Jack Guinan in 1960. Together, they proudly raised their family of 3 daughters. Pat was an accomplished decorator, florist and musician; all self-taught. She made their many homes in Ovid beautiful through her painting, sewing, wallpapering and decorating. This talent led to the opening of the Ovid Mercantile, where she was able to market her skills for the community, and then served as the florist for the Big M, where she had previously been the manager for many years. Pat was also well known to be a passionate New York Yankees fan. Perhaps must humbly and most notably, was her tenure at her beloved Holy Cross Church. She was baptized, confirmed and married there, to follow with over 50 years of service as the organist. Jack and Pat were unwavering in their support for their daughters and grandchildren, always striving to help them reach their personal best. Pat’s love of Ovid was a hallmark trait which came second, only to the love of her family

She is survived by her daughters, Paula of Orchard Park, Karen of Corning, and Anne of Romulus; her grandchildren, Paul Mattey of Ovid and Abigail Mattey of Geneva; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Jane Depew of Lodi and the extended Guinan and McCormick families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Holy Cross Church in Ovid. Prayers of committal will be held at NYS Veterans Cemetery in Romulus.
