Philip L. Steinruck, age 75, of Romulus passed away at Geneva General Hospital on Friday, September 11, 2026.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street, Ovid. A Graveside with military honors will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 18, 2026 at New York State Veteran's Cemetery - Finger Lakes, 6632 State Route 96A, Romulus. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those to make a donation in Phil's memory to The Parkinson's Foundation.
Phil was born on March 14, 1951 in Ithaca, a son of the late August and Gertrude (Cooper) Steinruck. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1978. In his professional life, Phil worked at Seneca Army Depot ending his career there as Chief of Security. He went on to work at KidsPeace and later transferred to Hillside Children's Center in Auburn where he worked in grounds and maintenance.
Phil was a lifetime member of the Varick Fire Department, where he served for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Ovid American Legion.
Phil is survived by his wife of 40 years, Terry Steinruck; daughter Emily (Jonathan) Bustos; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victor, and Alexander; and brothers, Bill (Maryann) and Kenneth (Betty Ann) Steinruck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brothers, David and Roy "Butch" Steinruck; sister, Beverly Knapp; and infant sister, Nancy.
