OVID—Sandra J. Doane, age 84, longtime resident of Brown Street, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Sandy was born in Geneva on February 5, 1942, the daughter of the late Frederick C. and Inez C. (née Richards) Loman.
She enjoyed a fulfilling 36-year career in food service at Willard Psychiatric Center, where she remained until its closure in 1995.
Sandy's vibrant personality was her trademark. Always well dressed and ready for a shopping trip, she was a positive force in the lives of her family and friends. She maintained beautiful gardens and a spotless home. Sandy enjoyed playing euchre at the American Legion and crafting, and her talent for interior decorating was nothing short of magazine quality.
She is survived by her children, Debra (David) Lincoln of Lodi; Pennie (Dozier) Mills of Melbourne, Florida; and Robert (Cinnamon) Doane of Willard; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Sharon Lewton of Hadley, New York; and many nieces and nephews. Sandy was preceded in death by her best friend of 38 years, Judy Rosbaugh, in 2024; her son, Timothy Doane, in 2013; and her sisters, Barbara Hildreth and Diane Emig.
A private graveside service will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken. Kindly remember Sandy with a smile, a shopping trip, and perhaps a donation in her memory to the animal rescue organization of your choice.
Service will be held at a future date
