Thomas W. Cornish

Thomas W. Cornish, age 79, of Ovid passed away on May 25, 2025, at the Rochester General Hospital.

Born on April 7, 1946, in Waverly, New York, Thomas was the son of the late Wilbur and Carrie (Thomas) Cornish. He honorably served in the United States Navy and Reserves from 1964 to 1970. Thomas worked at Goulds Pumps, where he devoted many years of his life prior to his retirement.

Thomas's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly found in the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, moments he cherished deeply. He had a passion for the outdoors, and enjoyed hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and camping, which he often shared with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Cornish; sons, Kyle (Jaime) and Chad Cornish; daughter, Charlene Balzer; grandchildren, Catlin, Kylie, and James Cornish, Ryan and Elijah Rosbaugh-Cornish, and Zachary Balzer; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Madelyn, and Hudson Balzer; sisters, Marguerite Franks, Marylee Woodcock, Linda Thomas, and Cindy Foster; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Joseph, Marvin, Julius, Wilbur Jr., Michael, Patrick, and Floyd Cornish.

A graveside service to honor Thomas's life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the New York State Veteran's Cemetery – Finger Lakes, located at 6632 NY-96A, Romulus, NY 14541. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Interlaken Sportsman’s Club on Tunison Road.
