Bonnie Palmer Obituary

Bonnie L. Palmer, age 76, of Ovid passed away surrounded by family at Strong Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 2, 2021.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Interlaken Reformed Church, 8315 N. Main Street, Interlaken. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 11:00am at the church.  In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in memory of Bonnie to Interlaken Reformed Church, PO Box 335, Interlaken, NY 14847.

The first thing Bonnie would want you to know about herself is that she loved the Lord and deeply cared about others salvation and she tried to live her life for Jesus. Bonnie was born in Seneca Falls on March 10, 1945, a daughter of the late Ronald and Margaret (Ford) Halsey. She worked as a mental health therapy aide at Sampson and later at Willard Psychiatric Center until retiring in 1995. She continued to work part time cleaning and caring for individuals in the community. She was also talented at making special occasion cakes for birthday’s and weddings. Bonnie was an active member of the Interlaken Reformed Church. She also served many years for the Camp Fowler Booster’s, Ovid Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed driving for the Amish, becoming friends with many of the families in the area. Her nickname of “Dusty Bee” was given as she never met a spider web she didn’t want to clean. She especially loved Christmastime, from decorating her home to the exchanging of gifts. Bonnie was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren and cared for all of them unconditionally.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 46 years, William Palmer; children, Chris (Kelly) Hayes of Lake Pleasant, NY , Tim Hayes of Avondale, AZ, Julie (Dan Snyder) Smith of Ovid, NY; John (Erica) Palmer of Fairport, NY; step sons, Arlo Palmer of Pinkhill, NC and William (Stacey) Palmer Jr of Fayetteville, NC.; special fur baby, Milo; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy (Walter) Becker of Fairport, NY.
