David Yaple Obituary

David J. Yaple, age 68, of Gilbert Road, passed away at the VA Medical Center in Bath on Saturday, December 26, 2020, following a recent cancer diagnosis.

David was born in Syracuse on July 18, 1952, a son of John and Dorothy (Perkins) Yaple.  At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Army from 1969 to 1972 and served as a combat veteran in Vietnam,

David had worked as a machinist all over central New York, and upon his retirement, he moved to Ovid to be near his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Steph Webster) Yaple of Waterloo, Dawn Yaple of Ovid; his mother, Dorothy Zahorian of Romulus; grandchildren, Richard Olschewske, Taylor and Bailee Eggleston, Amya and Trey McLaughlin; great grandchildren, Ellia Olschewske and Alana Lobner; siblings, Doug Yaple of South Carolina, Donald Covey of Georgia, Patricia Yaple, Pamela Sweeney and Donette Allen all of Cortland; a host of nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Christine Yaple of Romulus and his life companion, Jill Springer of Bath. David was preceded in death by his father, his step-father Donald Covey and a granddaughter, Caela Olschewske.
