Eleanor L. (Osborn) Miller

Eleanor L. Miller, age 92, former longtime resident of Knight Street, passed away at Cayuga Ridge Nursing Facility in Ithaca on December 9, 2020.

Eleanor was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on January 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Harold and Hazel (Bloor) Osborn moving to Buffalo as a child. From Buffalo, she moved to Interlaken in the late 1940’s and joined the Interlaken Reformed Church, where she had been an active member, supporter and Sunday School teacher. She worked in the Interlaken School Cafeteria and went on to retire from the former Tompkins County Hospital, where she had worked in the housekeeping department.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Interlaken American Legion Auxiliary.  She instilled the value of education in her children and was very proud of earning her GED later in life. Eleanor loved the holidays, including decorating her home at Christmas time to bring joy to children and adults alike.

Eleanor is survived by her children; Diane (Gary) Mosher of Iowa, Patricia Heslop of Ithaca, Deborah (Dick) Clark of Brockport, Barbara Ruggirello of Feura Bush, NY and Arthur L. (Amy) James II of Seneca Falls; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; her sister, Suzanne Reiman of Florida, and a large extended family.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, and father of her children, Arthur L. James in 1972, and by her husband, Lawrence Miller in 1988; a daughter, Kathleen Ray in 2016 and by her siblings, Edwin and Donald Osborn, Lois Trost and Joan McKillen.

 A Memorial Service has been scheduled for 12:3pm on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Interlaken Reformed Church, Main Street, Interlaken, to commemorate Eleanor’s life. Prayers of Committal were held privately at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken.
