Eugenia M. Srmack, age 87, died unexpectedly at her home on Route 96 on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
At Genie’s request, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Holy Cross Church followed by prayers of committal at Holy Cross Cemetery in Ovid. Genie was born at home in Ovid on August 30, 1933, a daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Kaiser. She was the valedictorian of her class from Ovid High School and began working at Kodak in Rochester shortly after graduation. She then began a long career at what became South Seneca Central School, working as the assistant to the principal in Ovid.
Genie loved her family and home, loved to cook, was a gifted artist and spent countless hours in her garden. She was noted for her impeccable style, costume jewelry and her amazing ability to never age.
She is survived by her sons; William “Bill” (Susan) Srmack of Geneva and Jason Srmack of Geneva; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jonathan) Srmack, Melissa Mandurano of Clifton Springs, Andy Hoffman of Geneva and a great granddaughter, Lily Mandurano; her sisters, Florence Rosbaugh of Waterloo and Theresa Orbanek of Webster. Genie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2003 and by brothers, Joseph and Victor and an infant brother, Edward and by a sister, Dorothy.
