Helene J. (Baker) Ike

Helene J. Baker Ike, age 83, formerly of Romulus, passed away peacefully at Huntington Living Center on Sunday, September 11, 2022 surrounded by her family.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street in Ovid.  A memorial service will then be held at 11:00am, officiated by Pastor Dave Spencer of Seneca Community Church. Prayers of committal will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken. Kindly consider a donation to the animal shelter of your choice in memory of Helene.

Helene was born on July 13, 1939 in Waterloo, a daughter of the late Charles and Maude Baker.  She attended Romulus High School and later worked there as a cafeteria attendant for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Helene was an avid gardener and loved to be outside and always decorated for all of the holidays.  Her role as wife of 56 years, mother of 8 children and their families was most important to her.

She is survived by her children; Jeanette (Walt) Powers of Manlius, Annette (John) Slaski of Auburn, Alan (Kelly VonBergen) Ike of Seneca Falls, Brian (Pat) Ike of Redding, CA, Dawn Bennett of MI, Gary Ike of Auburn, Delores (Harry) Morgan of Seneca Falls, MANY grand and great grandchildren; her sisters, Margaret Rea of Waterloo and Virginia Twist of Ovid and a very large extended family.  Helene was preceded in death by her husband Gary B. Ike in 2014 and by her daughter, Tracy Lee Ike in 1977 and by her brothers, Bill and Ed Baker.
