Joyce M. (Whitney) Williamson

Joyce Marie (nee Whitney) Williamson, age 91, of 6479 Iron Bridge Road, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 29, 2022.

Calling hour will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 11:00am to Noon at Seneca Community Church, 5738 State Route 96 in Romulus. A funeral service will then follow at Noon, officiated by Pastor David Spencer. Prayers of committal will be held at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Joyce was born at Waterloo Memorial Hospital on May 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Merle and Lilah (nee Benaway) Whitney. She was a graduate of Ovid Central School and was married to Ira “Bud” Williamson on March 21, 1953. Joyce worked at Willard State Hospital from 1949-1962, and then stayed at home and cared for several foster children, as well as her own.  She returned to WPC in the 1970s and retired in 1986 with her 20 years of service. Joyce was an active member and treasurer of the Hayts Corners Bible Church until it’s closing and then served as treasurer of the Seneca Community Church.  She enjoyed family gatherings, camping and traveling, knitting, crocheting, reading, and her many friends at church.

Joyce is survived by her children; Jim (Judy) of Ovid, Steve (Corrine Smith) of Waterloo, Rebecca (Hope) Wilson of Romulus, and Tim (Jennifer) of Ovid, a special daughter, Lola Caskey of Romulus, her grandchildren; Michelle and Jimmer, Steven and Patrick, Lilah and Christopher, Kayla and Jeremy, Lola’s children; Steven, Michael, Jeffery and Penny, 15 great grandchildren, sisters in law; Janice Williamson of Rochester and Carolyn Williamson of Huntington Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ira in 2011, a son Robin and granddaughter Melissa, brothers Donald and Fredrick and her special son in law, Billy R. Caskey.
