Kayla Nicole Woodard, age 26, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Cayuga Medical Center, after a hard fight with liver disease.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid from 4:00-7:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Noon on August 5th at 9675 Case RD. Kayla was born on December 15, 1996 in Montour Falls, NY, a daughter of Wayne Woodard Sr. and Dixie Harder. She was a graduate of South Seneca High School class of 2015, and member of the local VFW and Legion Auxiliary where she could showcase her patriotism. Family was always Kayla’s number one as she had such a big and loving heart, and never turned down the chance to help anyone who asked. She will be missed for her great cooking and baking skills, that won her a lot of favor in the family. Her friends will know her best from her time on the soccer field and obtaining an Early Childhood Certificate from BOCES.
Kayla is survived by her husband, Mike Smith and loving dog, Elsa; her parents, Wayne (Tara) Woodard Sr. and Dixie (Allen) Harder; siblings, Felicia (Mike) Riley, Wayne (Nicole) Woodard Jr., Rebecca Bennett, Amanda Bennett and Anthony Woodard; nieces and nephews, Harrison, Emersynn, Izabella, Aubrie, Neveah, Natalie, Paityn and Kaisor-Joe; siblings-in-law, Samantha (Matt) Taylor, Brandi (RC) Parlett, Jacob (Cheyanne) Taylor, Caleb (Sylvia) Yelvinton, JJ Ferner, William Reynolds, James, David and Jennifer Taylor, Matthew, Marlea and Makenna Monroe; additional nieces and nephews, Madison, Dawson, Ember, Blake, Eleanor, Percy and Aubrey; Maternal grandmother, Virginia McLaughlin and paternal grandfather Poppa Smitty;Uncle Chris (Irene) Woodard several aunts and uncles and many close and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William and Patricia Woodard Sr., maternal grandfather, Poppa Go-Go; aunt, Robin Perdicho Kociski and cousin, Albert Davidson.
