Robert W. “Bob” Fairclough, age 90, longtime resident of Lower Lake Road, passed away at Seneca Nursing & Rehab on Friday, July 1, 2022. Born in Hartford, CT on February 16, 1932, a son of the late Leo and Mary Louella (nee Brown) Fairclough.
He received his undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and then proudly served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, returning to attend Ithaca College, where he graduated with a master’s degree in music in 1962. He met his future wife, Ramona “Ronnie” Zuccala in West Hartford, CT and they were married on December 27, 1957. Bob had a long career in the South Seneca School District, teaching at both Ovid and Interlaken, retiring as the middle school music teacher. He had been a member of the Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity and a trustee of the Elizabeth Garnsey Delavan Library in Lodi. Following his retirement, he was part time faculty at Ithaca College. He had a passion for sailing, reading, the NY Yankees and the Ithaca College Bombers.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ronnie of Lodi; a son, Robert (Karen) Fairclough of Michigantown, IN, and a daughter, Kimberly (Steve) Zajac of Ovid; his grandchildren, Garrett (Brittini Lynn) and Braxton Fairclough, Shade (Nicole) Zajac and Gemini Zajac and his great granddaughters, Straton, Tristyn and Rhettlee Fairclough. He is proceeded in death by his parents and brother Gilbert Fairclough.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 22nd , 2022 at Holy Cross Church, 7231 Main Street, Ovid. Interment will be held privately.
