Steven A. Wingler

Steven A. Wingler, age 68, passed away at home surrounded by family on December 22, 2022. He was born October 28, 1954 in North Wilkesboro, NC. The son of the late Arnold and Annie Belle (nee Brooks) Wingler.

Steve, or more commonly Papa Wingler was one of the most indescribable men in the world. He led a quiet but amazing life, filled with adventures that made him relatable to all that he knew. His home and heart was always open. Sunday mornings wouldn’t be complete until you stopped in for a cup of coffee and a warm breakfast (even though he may grumble about the price of eggs lately). He loved to wander the woods and could be found hunting for treasures in the state lands and parks near his home. He had a life-long love of fishing that he had planned to revive in his retirement from Seneca Foods. He was an avid reader and a collection of classic rock on vinyl that even a collector could only dream of. When he wasn’t hiding in his office listening to music and podcasts he was gardening in his raised beds, fussing about his fruit trees or helping his children with whatever project they roped him into.

Steven is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beatrice Wingler; children, Lisa (Rick) Bush, Heidi (Jerry) Burke,, Steven (Mary) Wingler Jr., Sara (Joseph) Morganti and Noah Moriarty; grandchildren, Timothy and Frank Heitmann, Brian Burke, Mia (Alex) Ellis, Aleigha Burke Taisa Ferrell, Piper and Owen Wingler and Heather Delmage; Great Granddaughter, Emma Delmage; brother, Michael (Stephanie) Wingler. The Wingler family would also like to acknowledge his “emotionally adopted children”, Monica and Adam Novack, Eric and Mel Reynolds, Pam and Rob Brown and Lance Heitmann and Erin Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Arnold Wingler II.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday December 30, 2022 from 4:00-6:00pm at the VFW Post 6200, 7068 NY-96, Ovid, NY 14521. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for a Memorial Tree to be planted in Steven’s memory.
