Timothy J. Doane, age 82, long time resident of Ovid and formerly of Seneca Falls passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by caring staff at The Homestead in Penn Yan on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held at the VFW Post 6200 in Ovid at 11:00am on Saturday, May 13, 2023, the family will then host a reception until 1:00pm. Timothy was born on July 11, 1940, in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late Robert J. and Elizabeth K (nee Grube) Doane. He was a proud member of the United States Army National Guard & Reserve for a total of eight years. A proud member of American Legion Post 366 in Seneca Falls & American Legion Post 463 in Ovid for 53 years. Tim was a life member of the South Seneca Sportsmen’s Club in Ovid, where he served as President in 1992 and a member of the Interlaken Sportsmen’s Club for over 20 yrs. He was a Teamsters Union member who worked as a truck driver for Malcuria Brothers (Geneva) and a heavy equipment operator at Seneca Stone (Seneca Falls) for 45 years.
Tim’s great loves were his Ford trucks and the several animals that he rescued. He enjoyed his football games, especially the Buffalo Bills team and NASCAR races, with Dale Earnhardt Sr being his all-time favorite driver. Those that knew Tim will remember him as a kind, friendly, outgoing type of person with a good sense of humor that could strike up a meaningful conversation with all that he met, even strangers.
Timothy is survived by his children, Debra (David) Lincoln, Pennie (Dozier) Mills, Robert (Cinnamon) Doane, and Chris (Donna) Doane; sister, Judith Allen; grandchildren, Stefanie (Jordan) Duggan, Timothy Doane III, Michael (Lindsey) Doane, Taylor Doane, Morgan Doane, Jena Buck, Addyson Doane and Molly Doane; great grandchildren, Saryn and Rowyn Duggan, Maddox and Delaney Doane, Amelia Doane, as well as several nieces & a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Timothy J. Doane Jr and an infant brother, Thomas.
